Update news on Deaflympics Golf

The Summer Deaflympics began a few days ago in Caxias do Sul, Brazil. There is a smaller number of Deaflympics participants this year likely due to difficult circumstances including coronavirus and the war between Ukraine and Russia.

The Deaflympics golf competition begins on May 7 at the Caxias Golf Club.  Training rounds start soon, followed by the two prequalifying rounds for the match play rounds held on May 9-11.  There will be 31 golfers (21 Men and 10 Women golfers from 12 countries) competing for bronze, silver, and gold medals.

The competition this year will be interesting and exciting as it will feature several new players (both men and women) from various countries. There are also some returning players to watch including Allen John of Germany, who won the gold medal in our last Deaflympics in 2017. He will compete again this year for a chance to repeat his gold medal. In the Women event, Diksha Dagar of India will again be competing for a medal this year after previously losing to Kaylin Crownover (formerly Yost) in the first hole playoff in 2017.
