Update June 16, 2014 from WDGF TD on the behalf of the WDGC 2014 Rules Committee, original posted on the Facebook:

Message from the 2014 WDGC Tournament Rules CommitteeRecently, we have received a couple of queries about Distance Measuring Devices.

The 2014WDGC Tournament Rules Committee have discussed the DMDs issue, and confirm that the 2014 WDGC will only permit stand-alone DMD devices (ie devices that only measure distance). Stand-alone DMD devices include laser rangefinders, handheld GPS devices and GPS watches as long as they only give information on distance.

Mobile phones / multi use devices will not be permitted at the WDGC to avoid any confusion or delay to play.

Mobile phones can however be left in golf bag and used to contact the referee for a ruling at any time. The organising committee will have information available on arrival in Traverse City about this.

Any questions, please comment in the message below or (removed as it is for Facebook) send email to [email protected]

Look forward see you all in TVC!
