IGF: Golf with Disability Committee

WDGF has been in regular contact with IGF over the past two years. IGF has invited WDGF and all world disabled golf organisations to the inaugural ‘Impaired Golf’ Committee meeting in London, on 25th May 2016. WDGF has confirmed President Hart’s attendance and looks forward to the launch of this committee. Hart’s report will be shared with member countries with details including its aims and expected outcomes of Impaired Golf Committee.

The International Golf Federation (IGF) was founded in 1958 and is the international federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the world governing body for golf.

Golf is now a part of the Olympic program.  The sport will be part of the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janiero, Brazil and 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.  IGF is responsible for the organisation of the Olympic golf tournament in Rio.  The WDGF-ICSD arrangement for the Deaflympic golf tournament in 2017 is in parallel to what IGF-IOC is planning for the 2016 Olympics.
